How to Know When It’s Time to Replace Your Walk-In Refrigerator

By Staff -- Foodservice Equipment & Supplies, 6/1/2007

The main signs that a foodservice operator needs to replace a walk-in refrigeration unit include deterioration of both the floor and the panels.

Over time, floors will break, crack or rust. Older panels develop voids or cracks, which let in warm, ambient air. This creates frost and compromises the walk-in’s operation.

Corrosion of the door hardware, including the hinges or handle, also signify that the walk-in needs replacing.
