How to Know When to Replace a Refrigerated Display Case

Refrigerated display cases can last for many years when properly maintained. Yet, there are signs that signify a unit needs to be replaced.
The signs that a display case has reached the end of its service life can be obvious or subtle. Here's what to look for.
Excessive Noise: If there are sounds or rattling coming from the compressor, or if the motor is running very loudly, it may be time to consider purchasing a new unit.
Temperature Inconsistencies: If there are inside temperature fluctuations, or excessive condensation on the door interiors, the unit could be failing and replacement should be contemplated.
Wear & Tear: When the display case shows extensive wear and is experiencing multiple service issues after years of use, the unit may be nearing the end of its service life. This is more of a certainty if the cost of repairs is becoming prohibitive and parts are becoming difficult to find.
