Private Equity Firm Prepares to Buy Krispy Kreme
In a deal valued at an estimated $1.35 billion, JAB Beech Inc. has agreed to acquire Krispy Kreme. At the close of the transaction, Krispy Kreme will be privately owned and will continue to be independently operated from Krispy Kreme’s current headquarters in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Culinary Institute Honors Quartet of Culinary Pros
The Culinary Institute of America recognized the careers and contributions of four culinary professionals by presenting them with the organization’s Augie Awards. Named for French Chef Auguste Escoffier in recognition of his unwavering pursuit of excellence, creativity, and professionalism, the Augie Awards honor members of the food and foodservice business who exemplify those traits.
Jamba to Relocate to Texas
Jamba, Inc., parent company for Jamba Juice, plans to relocate its company headquarters to Frisco, Texas, from its current home of Emeryville, Calif. Jamba also announced changes to its organizational structure and leadership team.
SEFA Announces 2016 Award Winners
SEFA, an Illinois-based foodservice equipment and supplies buying group, announced its annual award winners. Among the 34 award winners, Restaurant Depot and Jetro Cash ’N Carry were named SEFA Member of the Year. SEFA also presented The Vollrath Company with its Supplier of the Year Award.
Smashburger Names New Chief Brand Officer
Smashburger co-founder Tom Ryan will assume the role of chief brand officer for the fast-casual burger concept. Ryan and partner Rick Schaden co-founded Smashburger in 2007. Ryan has since served as chief concept officer, overseeing product development and quality standards.
