Concept Close-Up: Deuce’s & the Diamond Club

Nightlife veteran Kevin Killerman and James Geier, president of the swanky design firm 555 International, are revamping the main drag of Chicago's Wrigleyville neighborhood with their latest concept, Deuce's & the Diamond Club (D&D), a sleek and modern, indoor/outdoor, all-glass building with a high-energy bar and restaurant serving gourmet burgers and contemporary comfort food along with a lineup of craft brews from around the world.

Deuces-and-the-Diamond-ClubInside, vintage décor blends with industrial edge in the form of slate grays, steels and whites mixed with reclaimed wood, rusted steel walls, retro 1930s baseball graphics and an escalator with exposed mechanics leading to the second floor.

Deuce's, on the first floor, consists of a mixture of seating areas, from hi-top and bar seating to traditional tabletops and booths, along with a semi-private party room flanked by walls of vintage paneled glass. One level up is the Diamond Club, which features plush seating, worn leather sectionals and reclaimed wood flooring, and boasts an unobstructed view of bustling Clark Street. Large, sliding glass-and-steel window panels can open up on warmer nights to overlook the outdoor patio below, or can separate sections of the room to allow for private parties and special events.

The outdoor patio features a large urban garden with eight cabanas for groups of 12 to 20, which are available for daily or nightly rental, providing alternative revenue streams for the restaurant. Adding to that strategy, future plans for D&D include a full retail shop on the lower level that will feature a line of custom merchandise.
