MAFSI Business Barometer Reports Growth Across the Board


Forty three percent of reps report increased consultant activity.

 

The MAFSI Business Barometer reported a 4.5 percent increase in foodservice equipment and supplies sales compared to the third quarter of 2012. Reps project a 4.1 percent sales increase for the fourth quarter and remain on track to reach their projected growth rate of 4.7 percent for 2014, according to the Manufacturers Agents for the Foodservice Industry (MAFSI).

On a regional basis, the Western region led the way posting a 6.4 percent increase, followed by increases of 5.4 percent in Canada, 4.3 percent in the South, 4.1 percent in the Midwest, and 3.3 percent in the Northeast.

By product type, tabletop increased by 5.2 percent, supplies 4.7 percent, equipment 4.4 percent and furnishings 3.8 percent.

In addition, 42 percent reps report they are quoting more while only 20 percent say they are quoting less. And 43 percent of reps report more consultant activity, compared to only 15 percent reporting a decrease in activity in this area.
