The Passing of Jim Webb 
Foodservice design consultant Jim Webb, founder and principal of Tustin, Calif.-based Webb Design, passed away on Oct. 24 following a long battle with cancer.

Candle Lamp Co. Buys Sterno 
Blyth, Inc. sold its Sterno business, a manufacturer and distributor of canned fuel and tabletop lighting products and accessories for the foodservice industry, to Candle Lamp Company, LLC. Sterno’s brands include Sterno, Handy Fuel, QuickFlame and Sterno Decorative Lighting Collection.
Leadership Transition on Tap for BJ’s Restaurants 
BJ’s Restaurants, Inc. announced Gregory A. Trojan will join the company as president and a director effective December 3, 2012. Gerald W. Deitchle, the company’s current chairman, president and CEO will retire as CEO effective February 1, 2013, with Trojan succeeding him in that role. Deitchle will continue as chairman of the company’s Board of Directors.

He has previously served as the company’s manager of training, director of franchise training and operations services and, most recently, franchise field training manager.
National Restaurant Association’s Brendan Flanagan Named VP State & Local Affairs 
The National Restaurant Association (NRA) promoted Brendan Flanagan to vice president of state and local affairs, a new position in the expanded Political and State Affairs department. Flanagan will lead the NRA’s engagement in public policy matters at the state and local level, working directly with state restaurant association executives and their staff members, as well as the state-focused governmental affairs staff of association members.
