Whataburger Announces Exec Promotions

Texas-based burger chain shakes up executive line-up.

Whataburger announced a slate of promotions within its executive leadership, effective January 2, 2012.

A 28-year veteran of Whataburger, Buddy Reno will move from senior administration officer to chief of staff, reporting to the president and CEO and managing strategic projects and long-term growth.

Clifton Rutledge will assume the role of chief operations officer. He joined Whataburger in March and has served in several executive positions, most recently as vice president of operations. Previously Rutledge was in operations for Yum! Brands.

Jack Sampson will receive a promotion to vice president of operations. Sampson has had executive management positions within Whataburger since 2004. Previously he served as vice president of operations for Boston's Gourmet Pizza.

Rob Rodriguez will assume the role of vice president of operations, from his current role as senior regional director of operations. He has held leadership positions within Whataburger since 2006. Previously he held a variety of leadership positions with Carlson Companies and Brinker International.

As previously announced, Preston Atkinson, president and COO will become president and CEO. The current CEO, Tom Dobson, will remain chairman of the board.
