Whataburger Promotes Atkinson to CEO

Dobson to remain chairman of the board of directors

Whataburger announced that effective January 1, 2012, Preston Atkinson, current president and COO, will assume the responsibilities of CEO. Tom Dobson will continue his role as chairman of the board of directors for the company.

Aktinson's history with the company goes back to 1986 when he designed and built Whataburger restaurants as president and owner of Atkinson and Associates Builders. He came on board formally in 1998 and has held several positions since, including senior vice president of development, chief development officer, and executive vice president and COO.
