Chain Restaurant Expansion Report for Aug. 24

Boston's Restaurant & Sports Bar, Buffalo Wild Wings, CPK, Elevation Burger, Quaker Steak and Lube and U-Swirl announce expansion results.

Dallas-based Boston's Restaurant & Sports Bar, a full-service, pizza-themed, casual dining restaurant and sports bar, announced plans to open three new locations by the end of this year in the following markets: Houston; Naples, Fla.; and Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche, Mexico.

Buffalo Wild Wings (NASDAQ: BWLD) announced plans to expand into Canada with a five-year plan that will see more than 50 company-owned and franchised restaurants open across the country. The Southern Ontario cities of Mississauga and Oshawa will be home to the first two locations scheduled to open in spring 2011. Buffalo Wild Wings continues to look for an additional 30 sites in Ontario.

California Pizza Kitchen, Inc. (CPK) (Nasdaq:CPKI) opened its fourth location in South Korea. Located in Seoul, CPK franchisee Handuck Development operates this 3,000 square-foot restaurant that seats approximately 110 people. The restaurant chain also opened a unit in Northbrook, Ill.

Elevation Burger signed a multi-unit franchising deal for Southern California with entrepreneurs Ron Weinberg and Atul Jain.

Quaker Steak and Lube has opened a location in Cleveland's Hopkins International Airport. Ohio-based AVI Foodsystems is operating this location.

Fast casual chain Tossed signed a franchise deal for more than 30 units in Orange County, Calif. Tossed will work with Mike LaRue, director of development for Fransmart, a franchise development company, to develop the territory with a group of partners.

Healthy Fast Food, Inc. (OTC:HFFI), parent to U-SWIRL International, Inc., announced that Arizona Swirl, LLC, the U-SWIRL area developer in Phoenix, has signed leases for the first two of 18 planned U-SWIRL self-serve frozen yogurt cafes in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Arizona Swirl is an experienced multi-concept franchise operator based in Phoenix that was awarded area development rights by U-SWIRL International in November 2009.
