Multiconcept operator taps a hotel industry veteran to fill a leadership post.
Stephen Joyce will become CEO of DineEquity, parent company of Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar and IHOP restaurants, effective Sept. 12, 2017.
Richard Dahl, chairman of the board, will continue to serve as interim CEO until Joyce assumes his new role. Joyce will also remain on DineEquity’s board of directors. Dahl took over the post of interim CEO on March 1 following the resignation of Julia Stewart.
Joyce’s background includes serving as CEO and a member of Choice Hotels International’s board of directors. Prior to joining Choice Hotels, Joyce served as executive vice president, global development/owner and franchise services for Marriott International Inc.
