Designed by Studio Gala, Jonathan Morr’s restaurant in Chelsea, Cherry, which opened earlier this year, focuses on French-Japanese cuisine by Chef Andy Choi and features a subterranean dining room with dark polished woods, lush red velvet and ornate sconces.
A warmly lit, crimson entrance leads guests to the romantic space that evokes an ambiance akin to mid-century Paris. Plush seating accompanies slightly lowered wooden tables designed to enhance the community dining experience while hand-selected, Japanese-inspired portraits and imagery punctuate the main dining room. Cherry’s dedicated, exposed sushi kitchen gives guests an insider’s view of the master sushi chefs at work.
