October 1, 2008

The crisis in the financial markets may continue to dominate the headlines in mainstream media, but the foodservice industry continues to move along slowly but surely. In case you missed them, here are a few headlines and links to the articles.

Restaurants Take Credit Hit but Leases Improve

Chipotle to Open Green Restaurant
There is a lot of interesting aspects to this project, beyond the simple fact that a chain’s actually adding a facility in this climate. Restaurants Push Value Meals
As was discussed in previous posts, foodservice operators will look at the way they package their menu items to help create value in the eyes of their customers and keep traffic from slipping too much. This article outlines the steps a few operators are taking.

Wendy’s to Target Older Customers
With the merger complete of the two iconic QSRs, Wendy’s/Arby’s Group has announced it plans to re-work its Wendy’s menu to make the chain more attractive to customers ranging in age from 24 to 49 years old.
