Centerplate to buy Boston Culinary Group

Foodservice management company Centerplate will purchase Boston Culinary Group (BCG). While the terms of the agreement were not disclosed, the transaction is expected to be final in early 2010. Earlier this year, Centerplate entered into a similar deal with Kohlberg & Company, LCC.
Des Hague, president and CEO of Centerplate, will serve in the same role once the merger is complete. Joseph O’Donnell, founder and chairman of BCG, will serve as chairman of the company’s board of directors.
In the past few months, Centerplate has also brought aboard new members to the senior management team including hospitality veterans George Wooten as executive vice president of operations, Keith B.W. King as senior vice president, general counsel; and the promotion of Hadi K. Monavar to executive vice president of strategic planning.
BCG, a contract foodservice provider like Centerplate, has more than 100 venue partners, including such notable locations as Dolphin Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins and Florida Marlins; the Bank Atlantic Center, home of the Florida Panthers; the Virginia Beach Convention Center; and 16 ski resorts throughout the country, according to a company release. Combined, Centerplate and BCG serve 29 universities
