Chipotle expands oversees, Corner Bakery plans aggressive growth and more.
  • Chipotle announced plans to open its first European to open first European location in London in April.
  • Steve Fricker, the former president of Daphne’s Greek Café, announced plans to open 11 Corner Bakery Café stores throughout San Diego by 2016.
  • Dunkin' Donuts signed a multi-unit store development agreement with Pace Development LLC for 15 new restaurants in Louisville, Ky. The first two locations are anticipated to open in 2011 and the remainder by 2016.
  • Firehouse Subs, the 374-unit sub sandwich chain based in Jacksonville, Fla., announced plans to open 125 franchised units during the next five to seven years in and around Chicago. Franchisee Steve Szalinski will open the first the restaurant chain’s first location in the Chicago suburb of Wheaton, Ill.
  • CKE Restaurants, Inc. opened its Hardee’s restaurant in Lahore, Pakistan. The restaurant chain plans to open at least 25 Hardee’s restaurants to be opened in Pakistan within the next five years. The franchised Hardee’s restaurant is operated by MDS Foods Private Limited, a subsidiary of the Super Asia Group. Hardee’s has operated franchised restaurants in the Middle East since 1980 and currently operates 205 Hardee’s restaurants in Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, and now Pakistan.
  • LongHorn Steakhouse, part of the Darden family of restaurants, opened its first location in Monroe, La.
  • Marco’s Pizza announced plans to expand into the Caribbean by opening six stores in the Bahamas and an additional 25 units throughout the region.
  • Mimi's Cafe, the restaurant chain owned by Bob Evans Farms, expanded its East Coast presence by opening a restaurant in Frederick, Md.
  • Franchisee King Fuels opened a Pizza Inn restaurant in Houston. King Fuels is a subsidiary of Four Star Foods, LLC, which opened its first Pizza Inn restaurant last Sept. in Humble, Tex. Pizza Inn franchises 310 restaurants and owns three.
