California Pizza Kitchen, Einstein Noah, Pizza Inn, Red Robin and Wendy’s/Arby’s were among the restaurant chains reporting operating results over the past week.
California Pizza Kitchen, Inc. (Nasdaq: CPKI) reported total revenues declined 5.3 percent to $164.8 million for its 2009 third quarter. The chain also announced that full service comparable restaurant sales decreased 8.0 percent.
Cosi reported system-wide comparable restaurant sales for the third quarter decreased 10.7 percent for the third quarter ending Sept. 28. Sales decreased 11.9 percent at company-owned stores and 5.7 percent at franchise-operated stores.
Einstein Noah Restaurant Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: BAGL), reported that revenues for its third quarter declined to $100.0 million vs. 100.9 million in the same period one year ago. third quarter of 2008. System-wide comparable store sales decreased 2.7 percent.
McDonald’s reported global comparable sales rose 3.3 percent in October, including a 0.1 percent decline among U.S. stores and a 6.4 percent increase in Europe. Sales for the Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa region increased 4.7 percent.
For its 2009 third quarter, Mexican Restaurants, Inc. (NASDAQ: CASA) reported restaurant sales decreased by $354,895 or 2.0 percent to $17.1 million compared with $17.4 million for the third quarter of 2008.
Morton's Restaurant Group, Inc. (NYSE: MRT) reported revenues for the third quarter of its 2009 fiscal year declined 12.2 percent to $64.1 million. Comparable restaurant revenues for Morton's steakhouses decreased 16.8 percent for the quarter.
In announcing its results for the restaurant chain’s first quarter of the 2010 fiscal year, Pizza Inn reported that comparable domestic buffet restaurant sales decreased 3.6 percent compared to the same year-ago period. Chain-wide comparable domestic restaurant sales decreased 4.2 percent for the first quarter of fiscal 2010 compared to the same quarter of the prior fiscal year. Overall sales from company-owned restaurants increased 186 percent due to the opening of two new locations during the quarter.
Casual dining restaurant chain Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Inc., (NASDAQ: RRGB) reported total revenues declined 10.4 percent to $187 million for its third fiscal quarter of 2009. Comparable restaurant sales decreased 14.9 percent for company-owned Red Robin restaurants compared to the same year-ago period.
Rubio's Restaurants, Inc. (NASDAQ:RUBO) reported revenues in the third quarter of 2009 totaled $48.4 million, an increase of 3 percent from $47.0 million reported in the same year-ago quarter.
Wendy’s/Arby’s Group, Inc. (NYSE: WEN) reported consolidated revenues of $903.2 million for its 2009 fiscal third quarter. The company reported that Wendy’s North America systemwide same-store sales decreased 0.1 percent. Arby’s North America systemwide same-store sales decreased 9.0 percent
