Chain Restaurants Report Operating Results

California Pizza Kitchen, Inc. (Nasdaq: CPKI - News) announced revenues decreased 5.3 percent to $164.8 million for the third quarter ending Sept. 27, 2009 versus $174.0 million in the third quarter ending Sept. 28, 2008. Full service comparable restaurant sales decreased approximately 8.0 percent compared to a 2.4 percent decrease in the third quarter last year.

CKE Restaurants, Inc. announced blended sales for company owned-operated Carl’s Jr. and Hardees’s stores open for more than one year declined 3.3 percent for financial period nine, which ended Oct. 5. Year-to-date, blended store sales have declined by 3.1 percent. Specifically, sales at Carl’s Jr. locations declined by 5.5 percent, while Hardee’s sales decreased by 0.6 percent. 

For its third fiscal quarter ending Sept. 6, 2009, Dominos Pizza Inc. reported domestic same store sales were flat while international same store sales grew 2.7 percent.

For the first quarter of its 2010 fiscal year, which ended Sept. 1, 2009, Ruby Tuesday reported same-restaurant sales decreased 3.1 percent and 6.5 percent at company-owned and domestic franchise Ruby Tuesday restaurants, respectively, compared to the same quarter of the prior year.

For its third operating quarter ending Sept. 5, 2009, YUM! Brands (NYSE: YUM) reported same store sales at its domestic units declined by 6 percent, including a 13 percent decrease at Pizza Hut.
