CKE announced expansion plans, while other chains announced closures this week.

CKE Restaurants opened a Hardee’s in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marking the chains 300th international unit, this one operated by Kuwait Food Co.
Famous Dave’s announced plans to close one of its 48 company-owned restaurants in Chicago this month due to a bankruptcy filing by the landlord of that property. In addition, the company announced impairments with another location in Chicago and a unit in Minneapolis.
Kona Grill closed a restaurant in Naples, Fla., due to challenges by volume, seasonality and demographics since its opening in November 2006.
McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants Inc. opened its sixth Chicago-area restaurant in Rosemont, Ill. The chain now operates 89 restaurants, including 83 in the United States and six units in Canada under The Boathouse brand.
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers opened a restaurant in Bel Air, Md.
