Peggy Bensinger of St. Louis-based VQ&T, and Jim Cullinane, of Louisville, Ky.-based Vulcan-Hart will co-chair the 2007 MAFSI Annual Conference. The conference, scheduled for June 12-14, will take place at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers in downtown Boston.
Focus Brands, operator of the Cinnabon and Carvel concepts, named TriMark Foodcraft its Equipment/Service Vendor of the Year for 2005.
Michigan State University appointed William Schwartz, vice president of NSF International, an adjunct professor in its Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition.
The Vollrath Co., Sheboygan, Wis., announced the winners of this year’s Vollrath Culinary Excellence Awards at the Johnson & Wales University College of Culinary Arts. The awards program recognizes one student at each J&W campus who has demonstrated excellence in the pursuit of the culinary arts. This year’s winners were Chad Gibson from the Charlotte, N.C., campus; Deja Walker from the Denver campus; Caston Carr from the North Miami, Fla., campus; and Harald Rohrmoser from the Providence, R.I., campus.
InterMetro Industries promoted Nancy Fera to the post of manager, consultants and educational services. In this new position, she will be responsible for the development of Metro’s Consultant Support Program and the training of foodservice sales personnel, key dealers and other foodservice organizations. Fera has been with Metro since 1997, most recently holding the position of foodservice segment manager.
Clark National, a broadline distributor based in Elk Grove Village, Ill., named Ray Brown and Johannes Vergouwen to division president positions at its Cadillac, Mich., and West Palm Beach, Fla., locations, respectively. In addition, Dan Danford, formerly division president of its Cadillac division, was promoted to the post of corporate director of operations for foodservice.
Raleigh, N.C.-based Captive-Aire Systems opened a production plant in Redding, Calif. The 46,000-square-foot facility will produce the manufacturer’s standard product line of commercial kitchen ventilation products, make-up air systems and spun aluminum power roof ventilators. The new plant, which is managed by John Sabol, will serve customers in the western United States.
